"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." - Matthew 5:14-16
God has amazed both Stefanie and I. A few years ago our family began to pray for God to use our Football Ministry to help someone become a Christian. We have become great friends with Coaches, the kids' teammates and their families. We have knocked on the doors of Heaven persistently, hoping that God would answer our prayers.
Our hope was to be a light for God and that he would use us in whatever way he thought possible. Well, its been four years and our God has answered our prayers by his transforming power in Christ during the 2007 season. God had put Coach Kevin and Coach Peacock on the same team coaching the Panthers.
Kevin and I became good friends throughout the season. Traditionally, Stefanie and I like to invite the team to worship with us as a team. In 2007 we did so, Kevin loved the preaching and the band.
He would later bring his Fiance'...God would put it on their hearts to seek pre-marital counseling and Bible Study. The Lord was moving in their lives as they sought to follow His Word, Kevin and Lindsey would wrestle with God and fight to make God the #1 priority in their lives.
They were both impacted by the cross of Christ and inspired by the love of God. Their hearts were moved to repentance and decided to make Jesus Lord.
I am reminded of how we should never give up on our prayers to God and never stop asking, believing and acting according to faith in Christ.
In the King James version 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, "Pray without ceasing."
Kevin and Lindsey were baptized into the Lord the day before their wedding day. To God be the Glory! Kevin was baptized and then he would turn and baptize his soon to be wife Lindsey in the Lord.
God has called us to be a light so that men would praise God. We are unworthy and acknowledge that it is only because of God that Kevin and Lindsey became Christians. It was God that brought us together to become friends and then later family in Christ.
After they were baptized we took some time to pray to God and thank Him for adding Kevin and Lindsey into His glorious kingdom.
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Corinthians 15:57
