Going for Gold
Success sometimes comes at a price. Growing up in Hong Kong Yvonne was a very talented young lady. She excelled in many areas of her life but she really stood out in her swimming abilities. As a young teen she set records and she competed in the 2004 Olympics. Quite an achievement, one might say!

Texas Discipleship Conference --One Man's Perspective
On the way to the Texas Discipleship Conference, entitled STAND, my wife asked me a simple but profound question: “What do you hope to get out of this conference?”

Update From Baton Rouge Campuses
Just over a year ago, my wife, Kristen and I moved to Baton Rouge, La from Greenville SC, to restart a Campus ministry at LSU, Southern and BRCC. While we both have had experience in the campus ministry, and as campus ministers, neither of us were quite prepared for what God had in store for us.

Answered Prayers
|
They all joined together constantly in prayer - Acts 1:14a Prayer: Lord, Help us to be a house of prayer. Movement: The Lord has been transforming us through Sunday Teaching on prayer, more and more people are talking about how God is moving through their prayer lives. We have learned what it means to fall prostrate before the LORD in great humility, many did just that in April as there were tears shed as we cried out to God, also within this event many prayed for every member of the Spokane Christian Church. God is equipping the saints through prayer, more brothers and sisters are praying to God first before they decide to act and are praying for God to work during their battles. God has been inspiring disciples to get together for all-night prayers! At another time we learned the importance of confessing to one another and to God, God moved the hearts of the people many confessed sins to one another and prayed on behalf of one another. Disciples lifted their voices in prayer thanking God for our great salvation, praising God for washing us all clean and asking God to fill us up with His Holy Spirit....at the end we all sang the song Jesus is Lord, My Redeemer! The Lord is moving among us! Prayer: Lord, be with our brother and sister who are newly licensed foster parents, open up a door for them to be able to foster a child or adopt a child. May your will be done. Movement: A baby boy was placed in their home by word of mouth even before they were setup to receive calls from the Home Finder system. His initial foster mom handed him into their arms across from the Big Red Wagon at Riverfront Park. Then both families celebrated together at the Carousel, which the Latah family had rented out that same morning for an annual gathering of foster families.
Prayer: Lord, help Ryan and Tori to become Christians Movement: God's love led them to make a decision. Ryan and Tori were baptized into the family of Christ after much study in God's Word.
Prayer: Lord, help us to have an opportunity to share our faith in the community around the building in which we worship together. Movement: The Lord has provided for us a donation of 3,000 New Testament Bibles to distribute through out the community. The Lord has provided us an opportunity to minister to almost 50 teens and their families this upcoming school year through sports. The Lord is bringing friends to Worship Services from the neighbor-hood.
Prayer: Lord help us to raise $25,000 to help meet needs and spread your gospel message locally, regionally and globally. Movement: So far as of the end of April, the Lord has moved the hearts of the disciples to give generously. The Lord has provided over $33,000 so far.
Prayer: Lord help us pull together a Mission Team to travel to Juarez, Mexico, build a home for a family who is without adequate shelter, to be used to share the love of Christ and to be Christ hands and feet. Lord provide the money for people that have willing hearts to go, provide the money to purchase the material to build the house. Movement: The Lord is assembling his Mission Team of people from all over. Some of these areas include Spokane WA, Seattle WA, Boise ID, Kansas City, KS and Ashland, OR. For many this will be their first time on a trip like this. So far, God has brought together a team of 25 disciples! |

Lord Help Us to Become a House of Prayer |

Answered Prayers
|
Nothing is beyond its reach, because God Himself is the focus of it. It is the contact of a living soul with God; it is the vision of the follower of Jesus. It gives eyes to our faith!
Where there is a high frequency of this, there will be a high frequency of intense power. God had a vision that His house would do it. Jesus' disciples would say, Teach me how to do it. The first Church in Acts was devoted to it. Jesus Himself was devoted and committed to it. Jesus began is ministry practicing it, stayed with it and to his very last breath, he did it! Of course we are talking about prayer!
We believe that it is essential for survival and deserves top priority in our day-to-day lives. We encourage you to stand and be counted as one who will take on this challenge to do whatever it takes to learn the discipline of prayer. As it becomes a part of the fabric of who we are, we believe the Spokane Christian Church will become transformed. We believe that its Gods vision that we become
A House of Prayer!

Revival in the Campus Ministry |

by Holly Crawford
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:30-31
Webster defines revive as a return to consciousness or life, to become active or flourishing again. In the last few months God has revived the Eastern Washington University campus ministry. Five years prior to this school year, members of the original mission team (that traveled to Spokane from the Seattle/Tacoma area to plant the Spokane Christian Church) remained in leadership in the campus ministry. This year the torch was passed on to a new generation.
However, this transition brought growing pains in the beginning of the 07-08 school year. Graduations of student disciples caused the campus ministry to drop to half its size. The average spiritual age of the 20 or so faithful disciples that remained was very young. The fall quarter of this new school year was a time a growth and maturing as God used various challenges to strengthen our faith and convictions (1 Peter 1:6-7).
Returning back from Christmas break in January, the campus ministry started picking up momentum. Disciples came back to campus revived and ready to be active in sharing their faith. Brothers and sisters went out two by two through the campus planting and watering many seeds (Luke 10:1-2). As God promises, the harvest was plentiful and, even though the workers were few, the fruit of our labor and Gods grace was being revealed. At the last Bible Talk at EWU before Spring Break we saw the biggest turnout in many years. The room was filled with people who were seeking God and there was a buzz of excitement as God was working through us to bring the Truth to our campus.
This revival continued after returning from Spring Break. Gods Word was presented powerfully in the first Bible Talk of the spring quarter and several personal bible studies were set up. The sisters were able to study the bible with someone different every day of the following week. The brothers are growing in their leadership and convictions. A prayer revival also began at EWU as campus disciples met every day together last week to pray for God to work on our campus and to be reliant on Him and not ourselves. The zeal has spread as new Bible Talks have started up on both the Spokane Falls and Spokane Community Colleges. The disciples at Gonzaga have fought to give everyone a chance to hear about God. Many men and women are continuing to study the bible and seek after a relationship with Him.
Reaching the half way point in the quarter and with the end of the school year in sight, we continue to be revived and full of life. We have dreams for our campus ministry to grow and to be able present God to this crooked and depraved generation (Philippians 2:15). Satan has recognized this spiritual revival and persistently fights against us to bring struggles and discouragement but as we continue to meet together weekly to pray and rely on God, we are faithful that Jesus will proclaim victory in the end.

Children Ministry presents: New Life |

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.- Ephesians 5:1-2
March 30th 2008 marked a first for the Spokane Christian Church! We were all fortunate to experience a play entitled New Life, starring the wonderfully exuberant children and youth (YPT) of our congregation. The play was written, directed and produced by our own Emily Burnett, a campus student with a passion for theater. The message of the play was a simple one - Christ died so that we could have New Life. You would think that such a simple truth would require very little energy to convey, however, this series of songs, dances and spandex clad superheroes was bubbling with enthusiasm that brought laughter, joy, sentiment and a renewed appreciation for one of the core foundations of Christianity.
The play, in all of its excitement, was perfectly balanced and prefaced with an intimate time of a capella worship and moving communion message. One first time visitor to the church had this to say,
what we liked about your service was the fact that everyone knew the songs and sang along
we found it very uplifting.
Experiences such as this do not happen without a tremendous amount of sacrifice and hard work on the parts of many. The prayer, unity, and passion that went into this project is a true reflection of the 1st century disciples and their hearts to see God glorified, using messengers of all ages, shapes and sizes to spread the Good News!

Road Trip to Missoula Montana |

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up... 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Several disciples from the Spokane Christian Church traveled to Missoula to spend time together to encourage the brothers and sisters of the Missoula Christian Church. We broke bread with one another, prayed for one another and enjoyed each other's company. The hospitality of the church was tremendous, all of the 17 disciples that traveled from Spokane were housed by the Christian brothers and sisters of the Missoula Church. It was truly a mutually encouraging time for all. Some visited the University of Montana, some went out for Starbucks and some even got a chance to play some basketball and some table hockey.
On Sunday, there was a buzz in the atmosphere as we all worshiped together. The Missoula Christian Church's evangelist Jake Jensen asked Jermaine to preach the Word and have Stefanie shared her testimony before communion. It was truly awesome, after services many went out to lunch before traveling back home, Jermaine and Stefanie had some time with Jake and Nancy Jensen for fellowship, prayer, encouragement and some good ol' apple pie and ice cream. Its so encouraging to be unified at the heart level because of Christ our Lord. May God keep our Churches bonded through Jesus Christ.
