Spokane Christian Church

Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. Romans 15:7

What a great day of fellowship it was at one of our recent Midweek's.  We did something outside of the box called Speed Fellowship.  In 2009 we are focusing on loving one another and truly getting to know one another.  We desired for the Church to get to know each other beyond Sunday...we wanted them to see pictures of their childhood, see pictures of the mothers, fathers and grand parents, we wanted to create a way for them to share about their up-bringing, to hear their testimony of how God brought to their current point in life.  It was so much fun!

Speed FellowshipThe arrangement of the chairs were lined up side by side length-wise and facing each other across the sanctuary, one side would move one direction and the other side would move the opposite direction.  Both disciples were facing each other and basically had a total of 2 minutes to answer specific questions such as "what are your favorite scriptures and why?"  Other topics were about their family and upbringing such as, " tell the person sitting across from you about your parents."  Some brought photo albums, shared pictures of them when they were young children, or of pictures in their home with their parents.  Another popular topic was, "tell the person sitting across from you about your testimony and how God found you, what were you like before you were a Christian, how has God changed you since?"  At times we'd simply pray with each other, other times we talked about silly topic like what was your favorite cereal growing up or who was your favorite super hero as a kid and why; other times more serious like who are your favorite characters in the Bible and why?

The idea of Speed Fellowship was to take time getting to know each other in a deeper way.  During some segments Christians were saying no...wait...I'm not finished...but you had to move on.  The idea was to create an attitude of being hungry for true fellowship...and this activity did just that!  Afterwards they were still talking...it was truly inspiring.  To God be the Glory!
