Spokane Christian Church

Disciples gathered for worship service on October 5th on a cool Autumn day. The day was dedicated to the theme "Power from on High" inspired by Acts 1:8...here is where Jesus told the first century church to wait in Jerusalem until they had been clothed with power from on high.

Today, disciples sang with all their hearts and many friends visited from the community...it was a packed house...after much prayer, the Lord brought out two basketetball stars from Gonzaga University; NBA hopeful- Jeremy Pargo and Ira Brown. Go ZAGS! We're praying for ya! The ZAGS start off ranked number 9th in the nation. See videos at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I68naha5mjI and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbtkYwJFpZo

One friend who has been studying the bible shared that she was getting so excited about being baptized into the Lord. The Lord brought out friends that were marrieds, single parents, campus students and pre-teens! The Christians were one in spirit, heart and mind!

And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world.   —Acts 1:8 MSG

Today in Acts we studied...

The Unstoppable Expansion of the Spirit in Jerusalem (1st church)

  • Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
  • Acts 1:14 the disciples all joined together in prayer constantly
  • How did the first church make big decisions…Acts 1:24-26 They asked God to show them
  • Radical Message Acts 2:22-24
  • Radical Plan for Salvation- Acts 2:36-39
  • Radical Acceptance Acts 2:40-41
  • Radical Fellowship Acts 2:42-47
  • Radical Faith Acts 3:1-8
  • Radical Humility Acts 3:11-13
  • Radical Courage Acts 4:1-4, 7-13
  • Radical Understanding Acts 4:23-24, 27-28
  • Radical Boldness Acts 4:29-31
  • Radical Unity Acts 4:32-34a
  • Acts 5:28 The Spirit had filled Jerusalem with the teachings of Christ

How are we to have an unstoppable expansion of the Spirit in the Greater Spokane Area?

Follow the example of our early brothers and sisters! This year we have focused on being a house of prayer, our hope is to develop the pattern where the church is constantly in prayer. When we make big decisions we need to be asking for God to show us. We must maintain the same radical message, hold out that same plan of salvation, imitate that radical fellowship, faith, humility, courage, understanding, boldness and unity. If we follow in the footsteps of those whom have walked before us surely God will add many to His body of believers. May it be said, the Greater Spokane Area has been filled with the teachings of Christ.

To God be the Glory!
