Spokane Christian Church

Below are standard practices about internet postings in order to safeguard personal privacy and avoid legal risks. For any articles, calendar events, blog, church Facebook page, and probably even downloadable flyers, please keep in mind the following guidelines:

  • Do not copy pictures from other websites, etc. if there is any possibility of copyright infringement.
  • When posting pictures of people, use caution. If in doubt about the picture, ask the individual(s). For example, the state will not allow web postings of a foster child, and other people might have personal reservations, especially with candid photos.
  • Post addresses only for public buildings: Do not post addresses for residences or personal properties unless we have permission, list only their name such as "Peacock's home" since most members can refer to the church directory, or they can call the host, which might even provide a helpful gauge in planning their guest count.
  • Do not post birthdates or anniversaries.
  • For personal emails, we can setup a temporary email address or an online contact form that forwards to theirs. Our church and youth camp sites have "email cloaking" to protect against spambots, but we cannot guarantee that our pages will keep their emails safe from being discovered and sold to mass marketers.
  • If we receive any complaints about a picture or posting, let's take it down as quickly as possible.

Edit the article and verify these publishing settings:

  • Published = Yes
  • Access Level = Public
  • Finish Publishing = [blank] or a later date

(1) Create an article with the appropriate title, section, and category.

(2) Put your cursor on a blank line were you want the video to display.

(3) Type where VIDEOID is the identifier for your video such as "CEqwA1D8Lvs".

(4) Select the Published option with a blank end date, and choose Save.

For Google intro text on search result pages, enter a 160 word or less summary under "Medata Description". Try to use a sentence from your article or a concise statement that uses common search words. If you don't enter a description, search engine bots will choose text from the page that may or may not represent what you want as a first impression.

For better Google search hits, type a few of the search terms in the "Medata Keywords" box that people would be likely to enter in order to bring up your article; for example, "campus baptisms 2010".
